We got up REALLY early again today and Grama Jo woke us at 5am! We were excited to start home and get to see Mom, Dad and Suji.
We had lots of fun in Mr. Dean's apartment and NYC but we were all ready to get back to Arkansas.
First we took a taxi to Penn Station and caught a train to go to Newark to catch our plane. After the train we took the airport train to the airport. We had to change cars one time and then the train went backward to the station we had just left! Everyone was shaking their heads and moaning. The train man said, "Stay on!" and the train went back the other way and took us to Terminal B.
We went through security and ate breakfast as we waited for our plane. Then they annouced it would be 30 minutes late ... then they said one hour.... Grama Jo decided we better see what was happening because we had to catch a plane out of Atlanta. After she talked to the man he put us on another plane to fly directly to Memphis so we went to Terminal C (we got to ride the train again) and got new tickets. Then we went through security for the new airline but then found out we needed to be at Terminal A! We got to ride the train again and go through security for the 3rd time. Beck and I did really well. We know how to remove our shoes and put them in the bin and put our backpacks in. No sweat!

Finally we got on the plane and had a good flight to Memphis and then caught a small jet to Ft. Smith where Mom and Dad and Suji met us. Even our suitcase made it there before we did. Grama Jo was very surprised.

We had a great trip and Mom and Dad were really happy to see us. When we got home we found they had repainted our room and put the solar system on the walls. We are getting new solar system sheets also. It is really cool.

We will be ready for another big adventure soon.

Last day - another rainy one

Today we "slept in" till 7:30! We ate breakfast and played awhile. Uncle Josh let us watch some Noggin and then we got our raincoats on and off we went. We love riding the subway. It is so much fun standing in the door and looking out at the tracks as they go by fast. It is hard for me to know which subway door to go in but Uncle Josh has it all figured out.

We rode to Times Square and went to the biggest toy store I have ever seen and Grama Jo said it was the biggest for her too. It had a ferris wheel in the middle of it! We got on and rode. Each car was a different toy, like Buzz Light year, Barbie, M and M's, Little Tikes, a New York taxi, etc. We had a long ride and on it and Uncle Josh took pictures. We can't put any on this blog because the camera battery died! Grama Jo's other camera is having lens problems so the only camera that works now is my camera. Beck and I looked at LOTS of stuff in that store. We stayed almost 2 hours. They had Stars Wars, Bakugan, Transformers,Legos, books, Little Pony, and lots more.
We finally settled on a Bakugan sphere for me and Beck got a Bumblebee Transformer. After that we rode a taxi back to Mr. Dean's apartment and put out stuff down. We got another taxi and rode to Soho for lunch. It was REALLY good. We had hamburgers, hot dogs, grilled cheese and shakes. We all ate it all.

Then we walked over to the Scholastic Book Store. It had Captain Underpants right inside the door. Grama Jo took a picture of us with him and you can see it later. We LOVED that store. They even had the bus that Ms. Frizzle uses in the Magic School Bus. They were showing movies of the books so I had to watch that for awhile and then I found the Star Wars books.
That took a long time. Uncle Josh read some books to Beck and then we found some books to buy. We found a special one for Suji that tells how to have a special tea party. We found some Berenstain Bears books that we do not have and some Magic School bus books. We left there with a sack full. A special book we bought was about a Subway Mouse.

We rode the taxi back to Mr. Dean's and took a little rest and played with our new toys and then decided to walk back to the park that is right down the street. The water was going and we played in it until I got too cold. Beck found a friend his size named Luke and they played cars together. Luke told Beck that Beck could come to his birthday! They had a good time together.

Uncle Josh knew a restaurant that only makes Mac and Cheese so he went there and brought dinner to us. It was good. We are settling in for the night with our new books because we have to leave the apartment at 5:30 in the morning. We will catch the taxi to the train, then the train to NJ airport and then the plane home. Hope the hurricane is gone.

We have had LOTS of fun in New York City but we are all ready to get back home. Beck says he misses mom.

Pictures will be posted later.
Thanks for following us.

A Fun, Rainy Friday in NYC

This morning it was raining when we got up, but we had brought our raincoats, so as soon as we had our cereal and got out clothes on we were off to the subway. We headed to the museum of natural history because I really wanted to show Beck all the BIG dinosaur bones.

Riding the subway was neat. The first station we got off at had some little bronze statues all around. I counted 56. Grama Jo only got a picture of a couple because Uncle Josh was walking pretty fast. The next station we got off at was at the museum. The walls and floor of that station had lots of animals and birds and fish everywhere. One wall had big ants walking on it.

We got to the museum right when it opened but it was still crowded. We got tickets to see the Extreme Animal exhibit and the Frog exhibit. We looked at the extreme animals and it talked alot about mammals. There were animals even Grama Jo and Uncle Josh had not heard of. Beck kept saying he wanted to see the big dinosaurs so we went to find them. He was really amazed. We had seen a T-Rex in Chicago but there were more dinosaurs here. They were so BIG. After a lot of pictures we went to the Frog exhibit. It was awesome. There were frogs from all over the world. Some were so camouflaged that we could barely see them. Uncle Josh had a good eye and helped us see one that looked like moss and one that looked like a brown leaf. Some of them were bright blue and some were yellow or orange. Those were the tiny poison frogs. By the time we walked all over that exhibit we were hungry so we went to the museum food court for lunch. They served mac and cheese and also had yummy donuts!

After lunch we went to the planetarium where we saw the planets and the sun as models. They also had a scale that you can see how much you would weight on a star. By that time Beck was tired of being inside so we left and went out to Central Park. The rain had almost stopped so we walked and walked and chased pigeons and walked.

Grama Jo had looked on the internet and found about some statues so we searched for them. First we found one of Hans Christian Anderson. He is famous for writing fairy tales. He had the book about "The Ugly Duckling" on his lap and I read all that was there. Then Grama Jo told us the story as we walked searching for the statue of Alice in Wonderland. That was really neat. Alice was sitting on a mushroom and the Mad Hatter and the hare were there with her. Next we searched for Baldo. He was a dog who saved some people in Alaska. Uncle Josh spotted him and we got to get out picture taken some more!!

We walked on down to the Central Park zoo and got to go in and see a Sea Lion show. The zoo keepers fed the sea lions fish when they performed tricks. The sea lions could stand on their front flippers and dive into the water. We also saw some penguins and puffins, a polar bear, and a lot of animals in the rainforest. That was MORE walking.

We left the park and caught the subway home. We were glad that we got the train that went straight back and we did not have to change stations because we were all tired.

No ice cream tonight. We went to Ben and Jerry's last night but it was too much of a sugar high too late (at least that is what Uncle Josh and Grama Jo said!) Maybe we'll get some more tomorrow.

One more big day in NYC and then we'll head home. Hoping the hurricane goes back into the Atlantic Ocean.

Thursday photos

Thursday's adventures

This morning after two bowls of cereal we started out on the subway headed to "Lady Liberty". Grama Jo had bought our tickets on line so we just walked in and right to the ferry and rode over to Liberty Island. The trip was great. We saw lots of other boats in the water. When we got to the island we found the right line and then had to wait almost an hour to go through security to get inside of the platform. The security screener had air puffs that blew your hair! It was funny.

We had to walk up 157 steps to get to the platform but it was neat when we got there. We could see for a long way. We noticed the had the flag flying at half mast in memory of Sen. Kennedy.

By then it was almost noon so we bought some chocolate milk to go with our pb/honey sandwiches and headed for the ferry. There was another line, but after we got seated on the boat we ate our lunch and watched the sights while heading back to Battery Park. The park turned out to be a fun place to chase the pigeons.

We found the subway and headed to the Empire State Building. It is so big that you loose sight of it when you are close by. All four of us went up to the 86th floor and saw the views from all sides. We could see lots of taxies on the street, Central Park, and the rivers. It was a neat place to be. Even Uncle Josh liked it.

After that we shopped a little and bought some souvenirs. We all decided we were tired so we caught a taxi back to Mr. Dean's apartment and took a break. The weather was so nice we did not want to stay inside so we went to the local park about 1 block away. They had some water to play in so we really enjoyed it.

We plant to have supper and then go out for ice cream. More tomorrow.
