Mom woke me up this morning a little after 4am. I jumped out of bed and hollered for Beck to come on, we're going to New York City! We got our clothes on fast and Grama Jo was already dressed downstairs and Dad had our suitcase in the car. We kissed Mom and hopped in the car. Dad drove us to Ft. Smith to catch our plane but we had to go by and pick up Uncle Josh. He was ready too!!
On the drive to Ft. Smith it was still dark but there were several cars on the road. We saw LOTS of deer. Dad kept watching them. They were on the right side of the highway and seemed to be eating the grass that looked freshly cut. We were glad none of them ran out in front of us.
Beck and I love going through the tunnel. We held our breath all the way through.
Dad dropped us at the airport and then we checked in and left our suitcase to go through the security. We had to take our shoes off and put our backpacks in the bins, but we knew how and did it really good because Mom had practiced with us.
We flew from Ft. Smith to Memphis. The flight only took about 45 minutes but once we got there we had to fly around in a circle for a little while before we landed. Then he hopped off of one plane and waited about 10 minutes and got on another. We flew to Newark, NJ. That plane went above the clouds. We ate Cheerios and drank juice. Grama Jo wanted to go to sleep but Beck would not let her. We read and chewed some gum.
At Newark we got our suitcase and Uncle Josh showed us how to catch the airport train over to the big train station. We just missed the first train but got the second one and rode to Penn Station. There we got a cab to Mr. Dean's apartment. He was just getting ready to leave to fly to Rome and then sail around the Mediterranean Sea for 6 days on a 45 foot sailboat!
His apartment is about as big as our living room (pillow room) but we have a bed and bathroom and Uncle Josh has a couch to sleep on. He lives in a busy neighborhood. After a little rest and sandwiches we took the subway to Central Park. Beck really wanted to go climb on the rocks. We did lots of walking and then got some ice cream. Beck got Sponge Bob ice cream and I got a snowcone. It wasn't very good. I am going to make a different choice next time. After a while of playing we decided to walk over to the FAO Swartz toy store. We looked at LOTS of toys. We saw a life sized Bat Man made of Leggos. Grama Jo said the price tag said $27,000! Wow. Beck really wanted to buy something but we just shopped. Then we went to the Disney Store and shopped some more. There were LOTS of people.
We held hands really good and then decided we were tired and hungry so we rode the subway back where we started. Uncle Josh got us some really good pizza so we ate it while we talked to Mom, Dad and Suji on the phone.
Tomorrow we are planning to go to the Statue of Liberty. We will let you know how that goes. We are having a good time. Beck went to sleep before Grama Jo finished reading my book.
The use of traveling is to regulate imagination by reality, and instead of thinking how things may be, to see them as they are.
